Our Ministries

Sunday School

Sunday School takes place after each Sunday service during the school year from 11:00-12:00. It is for children ages Preschool through 5th Grade. The children begin with a time of singing, then go to their separate classrooms (Preschool-1st grade and 2 nd -5th grade). There, they will learn a Bible story, which is reinforced with games and crafts. This year, each Sunday School class is looking at the stories of the Old Testament. Our Sunday School teachers are Jenny Ver Steeg and Trinity Meinders.

Catechism

Catechism takes place after each Sunday service during the school year from 11:15-12:00. It is for children ages 6th Grade through 8th Grade (Middle School Catechism) and 9th Grade through 12th Grade (High School Catechism). The curriculum is designed for a deeper study into the doctrines of grace, encouraging children to make the faith their own. This year, the Middle School Catechism class is studying Faith of Our Fathers: Studies in the Belgic Confession. The High School Catechism class is studying The Price of Possession: The Heidelberg Catechism. Our Catechism teachers are Pastor David and Randy Luthi.

Sunday Evening Bible Study

Sunday Evening Bible Study takes place on Sunday Evenings from 6:00-7:00. A video lecture is shown, followed by a time of discussion led by Pastor David. The current material is A Survey of Church History by W. Robert Godfrey (for more information, click here).

Youth Group

Youth Group takes place on Wednesday evenings during the school year beginning at 7:00. It is for children 9th Grade through 12th grade. This is a time of fellowship, fun, and thinking deeply together about the faith, and how it applies to our lives. Youth Group is led by Cory Evink and Tina Haugen.

Kid Connection

Kid Connection is a program designed to meet the needs of the children of our congregation and the community from Preschool through 5th Grade. It connects kids to God through His Word, with lessons that are thoroughly Biblical and Reformed. Our goal is for everyone to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever!” (2 Peter 3:18).

Kid Connection meets every Wednesday afternoon during the school year. The children are served a snack from 3:15-3:30, followed by a time of prayer, learning a memory verse together, and group singing from 3:30-3:50. From 3:50-4:15, there is a large group lesson about that week’s Bible story. From 4:15-5:00, the kids gather in small groups to dive deeper into the lesson, with activities suited for their age, including games, crafts, and Bible reading.

If Hancock School has an early-out for weather or PLCS, we will not meet.

Bible Studies for Women

Ladies’ Bible Study meets the 1st Friday of every month at 10:00 in the church basement. It is a time of fellowship centered around studying a portion of God’s Word. They are currently working through a study on the parables of Jesus. They are led by Pastor David.

Young Women's Bible Study meets every other Wednesday night at 7:00 in the parsonage basement. They are currently studying The God of Creation: A Study of Genesis 1-11.
